Inaccurate temperature reading

On the third use of this device it failed to keep an accurate temperature. I was smoking a turkey and based on the device it should have been done. Fail - turkey was under cooked. My next use, thinking the turkey a fluke, I smoked a brisket. When the device read 185 on both probes I was not comfortable with the briskest doneness so I pulled out my old temp gauge. The older gauge showed a temp of 165. 20 degrees lower than the Webwr temp gauge. It may have been a faulty device from Weber. But I am not confident in their product as a result.

Hi, We're sorry to learn of the trouble you ran into while using our thermometer. Our customer service team will be in touch with you to help resolve the problem. Thanks!

Batteries are the bane of this product

I am on my second unit after returning the first unit when it would no longer pair. The buttons don't appear to work if the probes do not pair with the unit. My unit gets stuck with the "1" and "2" buttons inactive and the up and down arrows only affect the timer settings...very frustrating. The base/probe unit power on and the main unit will power on giving the appearance of normal operation. The culprit appears to be weak batteries. After replacing the batteries in both the main unit and the remote probe the pairing was successful and I have a working wireless thermometer again. Best advice given in a previous post is to immediately replace the crap batteries which ship with the unit. I love the functionality of the device when it works. We typically have several things going at once when we are grilling and this set-up keeps me on task so the main meat entree is cooked to perfection.

Hi John! We are glad to hear that with new batteries you are up and running again. If you ever run into more trouble, please check out our blog on the unit: http://www.weber.com/weber-nation/blog/how-to-use-the-weber-style-wireless-thermometer. Thanks!

Not What You Want

I have been trough many digital thermometers and finally decided I need a good. This year I asked for a Weber wireless thermometer for Christmas. I thought this would be good with my Egg. Right of the box I had problems getting it to pair. Put it down and left it alone for several hours. Later that afternoon I went back to it and got it to pair instantly. I thought that perhaps earlier I had read the instructions wrong. Several days later I smoked on the Egg and it took me several minutes to get it to pair having to re-read the instructions several times. Finally I did and cooked with it but lost pairing several times during the cooking process. Today I am trying to cook and have tried to get it to pair several times with no luck. I even changed the batteries like one post suggest. This product is not what you think. Why do you even have to pair it? You can buy wireless mouse or keyboard that is synced with its transponder. In fact it is the only one it works with For me I am done with it and want my money back and a different product. Weber, you missed the mark on this one.

Hi Guy! Thanks for your feedback on the thermometer. The technology that we have for the thermometer does require pairing but we will pass along your feedback. Please check out our pairing guide here and let us know if that does the trick: http://www.weber.com/weber-nation/blog/how-to-use-the-weber-style-wireless-thermometer. Thanks!

Same problem as others does not pair

Same problem with pairing. I've had this product for about 2 months and each time I use it I have to pair. Problem was batteries and agree for a $70 product it should have top rate batteries!!!!!!! Weber please take note. This problem has caused me to only be able to use it 3 times out of many cook out due to pairing issues.

Junk

Bought new from Ace Hardware as an upgrade to my 3 year old Taylor. Worked fine for three weeks then wouldn't sync to probes. Replaced batteries with new Duracell and still no luck. Pressed 1&2 until beep, short press power with base on and periodically flashing. Nothing. Of course I pitched my receipt so this was a waste of $70. Stick to grills Weber.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Avoid at all cost.

I bought this because of the Weber name brand. It is clear that they sacrificed their brand name and promise at the altar of profit. The worst directions that I have encountered for any product. My device is stuck in "timer" mode - It is completely useless - it does not record the current temp nor does it allow me to modify the initial setting. I have read and followed the directions over and over, my emotions have gone from product excitement to a complete reversal. After spending over an hour, reading manuals online, asking others to read the set up instructions I have abandoned all hope. Now I will be taking the time to return the product, the store will take the time to return the product, Weber will process the return and they have lost a loyal customer. My loss, the store loss, Weber loss. Unlikely that they care.

When it works

I've had this a week or so. It took 30 minutes plus to pair out of the box. Finally got it to work and when it did, it was great! Tried to use it again today, it won't pair. I've been at it for an hour. Couldn't find the reset button and I shouldn't have to. I'm going to swap out the batteries to see if that works, but shouldn't have to that either after only a week. For $60-70, the system should be a bit easier. At least make it so one can actually dock it to the base and get it working via a hard connection pairing. I'll ipdate this if anything works.

Expensive worthless product

I bought two of these pieces of junk on March 15,2015. Gave one to my sister and kept one. The instruction manual is in thirteen different languages making almost impossible to read. Anyway I paired my unit up and got it to work, so did my sister. The second time I went to use it it wouldn't register any heat for either probe so I attempted to pair this mess again. I was quite surprised to find that the ambient temperature of the air in my kitchen was 2444 degrees Fahrenheit! I have tried a dozen times to get it to work and it won't. Strangely enough my sister's unit will no longer work or pair. I am sending both units back and expect Weber to do nothing. Don't buy this product if you want a simple to use, clearly instructed robust meat thermometer you can use in a Weber kettle and/or gas grill. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.
