Firmware update renders the device useless and no Weber Support available

I purchased this device from IDevices last year. Have been using it and loving it. Recently the app asked me to update the firmware via bluetooth. Why not?.... well it's now sitting dorm with probe led 2 and 3 constant on. Weber support picks up the phone, but can't help and switches me to a support desk that doesn't answer. So if you bought it, say no to the firmware upgrade. And yes my batteries were freshly replaced prior to the upgrade.

Probe failure

I imported the IGRILL 2 to Australia and bought the extra 2 probes. Now only after 5 months using it i have 2 probes fail. Here in Australia if i want a new probe i have to buy a mini Igrill. Warranty is a issue as weber didn't own IGRILL when i purchased mine. Other then that they are great but be very careful not to pull overheat or wet these probes. Something certainly needs to be done to make these more robust for what they are designed for.

Has Potential but technology lacking

I was excited when I first saw this product and after looking at reviews on Amazon decided to purchase. The base unit is really self explanitory but the app needs improvements. The app seems more complicated than it really needs to be. I've used it enough to get a handle on it but it was somewhat confusing getting started. However, the real issue is the poor bluetooth connectivity. Unless you are really close to the unit (30-50') the unit does not maintain connectivity. The advertised distance is about 150' but I've never been able to maintain connection at that distance. At father distances it may connect, disconnect and reconnect making it very difficult to use plus the connectivity issues prevent you from being able to trust that an alarm will work when you need it to. I have cheap bluetooth speakers that can maintain a reliable connection at a significantly father distance than the iGrill.

Listen to the reviews!!!

Probes are a joke. They lasted a few months. Weber knows about the problem and has supposedly made a much improved probe. I know this because I called and spoke with someone who let me know this and also took my information to send me new ones. After giving him all my info, now I get all sorts of Weber advertisement emails, but no replacement probes to be found. Very disappointed in the follow up. Also, the fake chrome on the unit starts to flake off after a few weeks of use and cleaning ( damp rag with water only ). This wouldn't be a big deal except it is a tech gadget and most people like to show this type of thing off to people. I know I did. I showed it off to everyone when it was nice looking and worked. Not anymore, I hide it. It looks old, cheap and like something that I have owned for years. But its only a few months old. Weber bought the iGrill and hopefully addresses the products workmanship because when it was new, it was the best BBQ tool I have ever owned. Unfortunately the honeymoon period ends way to quickly.

Buyer Beware

The device itself is awesome, but the probes break quickly. When you go to purchase replacements, they are absurdly overpriced. This leaves you with the choice of either continually paying 25% of the cost for the device itself for a replacement probe, or putting an expensive (and useless) device in a drawer to never be used again. The probes should cost no more than $10, or 2 for $25 at most. They simply aren't that costly to produce. Weber is banking on people feeling trapped and paying up in order to continue to use the device. Do your research before investing in the product.

Great! except

the probes stop working after a few uses. I bought new ones and the ambient hoping it was just a bad one but those stopped working after 2 uses. I love love love when it works...

Great product, but probes are the weak link

I own both an igrill mini and and igrill2. They are great to cook with and offer ease of use and flexibility unlike other products. The weak link are the probes. I've had my ambient temp probe replaced once, and again it's having issues in less than a couple months. In addition, now a meat probe is also giving me bad readings. It starts off over 200degrees high, and eventually starts to equilibrate...in a couple hours... At $25 per probe, or more, the purchase of an igrill will get very expensive. It would seem that a better solution would be for the manufacturer to design a better probe. At this point, as nice as it is when it's working, I'm not so sure if I will look for new probes or cut my losses and find an alternate product.

Faulty Unit

I purchased this for my father a few weeks ago, since he loves to bbq. He is a huge weber fan, he has both a genesis bbq and a weber q portable bbq, not to mention the accessories and seasonings. He was so excited receiving this device, but after a few weeks of use there seems to be an issue with the device itself, it keeps losing contact with the probe. we have tried using the reset button at the back of the unit and tried different ports on the unit. It seems if we move the probe connector it will have or not have a connection, or if we put something underneath the connectors to make contact, the middle ports seem worse. the display on the unit only shows a "-" in the middle and on the phone app it shows no probes connected when the connection is lost. We also have tried both probes with the same results. My father is very disappointed and I am hoping you may have any other ideas we can try?
